Awake
Unable to wake up, I always thought that I am already sitting on my bed, at work, going to the bathroom, talking to people, watching television, surfing the Internet... In the end, I always realized that I am not actually awake. After countless struggles and failures, I gave up on relying my own willpower to get up. I decided to go with the flow, and began to converse with the people in my dreams. There is a person at my side who I recognize, but can’t name. In previous failed attempts, this person has charged into the study room and seen me defecating. I told him to leave and close the door. At the same time, I wondered why I am defecating on a chair, and realize at that moment that I was actually dreaming. I ask him what his views are on “dreams from which one cannot wake.” He responds by telling me a story from the time when he was a soldier. There was a soldier who also could not wake up. The officer yelled at him to go to his duties and he would stumble to his destination, swaying left and right like a zombie. When the officer asked him to report results, he responded with a strange doggerel. “One, two, three, four, five, five, four, three, two, one...there are a total of five squad leaders. They are all number one.” “Irrelevant answer. Zero points!” The officer’s temper started to flare. The soldier's behavior was confusing and ludicrous. The officer was both angry and amused. The surrounding people began to laugh, and the soldier himself soon joined in, laughing unstoppably. Suddenly, he laughed himself awake. The story ended there. I'm touched and sincerely hope that I could laugh myself awake too. |
